Sea: Volos Skiathos

The Port of Volos says its passenger port links the Sporades with the mainland using passenger–car ferries and passenger hydrofoils. Skiathos is the first island stop; most boats continue to Skopelos (Glossa and Skopelos town) and Alonissos, so pick Skiathos as your destination when you book.

Who sails

Ferry or hydrofoil?

  • With a car: you need a ferry with a car deck; book the vehicle on the same booking.
  • On foot: both work. Hydrofoils are smaller and more affected by wind; check for cancellations on windy days.
  • Season: the number of sailings changes between summer and winter, and extra summer boats come and go. Always check the current timetable with the company.

Tickets and boarding

Book on the company's own site or at an agency at the port, and carry ID. Be at the central pier in good time, especially with a car. For weather problems, the Volos Central Port Authority (Coast Guard) is the official source: +30 24213 53800.

Times and fares: use each company's own timetable. We deliberately do not copy euro amounts or sailing clocks onto this site.
